Trying out Ripe Launcher on Android [Part 1]

For about a month and a half I’ve been testing out the Ripe Launcher for Android, and while it gets most of the features I need, including recreating the iconic BBOS interface, a key feature it’s missing is the ability to view multiple calendars. As someone who uses multiple calendars to colour code things, that became a real big issue.

Thankfully the main developer said when I asked them on Discord if this would be fixed or what the reason was:

“might need some testing, but well figure it out one the update is out and see if its fixed”

So I am likely going to have to come back to this and do a longer entry, but I wanted to let people know I might have found the best limited launcher, something that mixes minimalist ideas and distraction-free use but is not useless.

I just wanted a launcher that I could grab my phone, glance at it, and know if anything needed me rather than jumping between multiple apps.

If you don’t require more than two calendars, this honestly might be a limited launcher people could use.

You can find the app on the Google Play Store or their own website, so look forward to me talking about it in depth once they fix the only real thing stopping me from giving it a longer test run.
