The People Crave Music Players [Rant]

Recently, I found myself relaxing in the few moments when I’m not studying or putting out fires. I couldn’t listen to 2017’s “New Wave” by Powerman 5000 without someone needing something from me. I realized, with everything on our phones, we lost something.

What happened to the times when people weren’t expected online all the time?

It was during Track 4 “David Fucking Bowie” that I was pulled away from the music due to someone having issues and expecting me to jump when they wanted.

I miss the days of docking my iPod and just zoning out with my music. Now, sure, I could use my modded iPod, but the issue is there are a few key features I would have loved to have.

How hard would it be to have a nice high-quality MP3 Player that has High-Res Audio and doesn’t cost nearly $500?

Another feature I’d love is being able to listen to my CUE+WAV or CUE+FLAC mixtapes with the proper track lists.

We’ve already seen Gen Z revert to flip phones. Perhaps we can get good Music Players and not the crappy bulk OEM stuff I keep seeing online. I have seen some people bring back the old-school iPod Modding scene, but the only issue with that is the limited storage and the fact that I want to be able to dump my high-res audio, my FLAC files, and ideally my mixtapes I have collected over the years.

I’d love to know what my blog readers or fediverse readers have to say and what they’re using. Personally, I am looking at perhaps trying out something from HiBy, but I am still on the fence about how good the battery life is on those units.
