Sony What the Hell? [Content Being Revoked]

BongBong is reporting that “Sony deleting 551 movies from own customers’ accounts.” Let’s talk about this. It seems Sony is ending its deal with StudioCanal.

StudioCanal is a French-language distributor with films such as Day of the Dead, Deathgasm, Rambo: First Blood, and Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Remastered).

People are losing their minds over this, as Sony’s “Legal Notice,” which is more like a fuck you to consumers, states as of September 1, 2026:

“you will no longer be able to access your previously purchased content from Studio Canal, and it will be removed from your video library”

So this is not just unlisted from being bought like some unlisted games, but full-blown removed, no refunds, no nothing.

This honestly just proves the old saying: “if buying isn’t owning, piracy isn’t theft.” I fully got rid of my PlayStation a while ago due to their ID verification issues with non-Play Android devices or non-iPhones.

So this article is mostly to tell people who might still use Sony devices or are still on PlayStation: this is coming. Do not buy any StudioCanal releases this summer, as at the time of writing they still allow you to buy content from them, which seems like an insult knowing it’s going to be removed soon.

Now if anyone needs me, I’m gonna go listen to my FLAC copy of “Squeeze Box” a 15-album, 177-song boxset, since no one can take my digitized physical copies
